The Indian 340 B was the military version of the Indian Chief. Mainly it was delivered with a sidecar. About 3,000 exemplars were delivered to the US Army. Until the capitulation in 1940, the French Army received about 5,000 exemplars of this model. The illustrated motorcycle is most probably one of these French Indians..
