GMC ACK 353 - 1940

Until the beginning of war, France procured larger quantities of the 1.5 ton, 4x4 lorry GMC ACK-353. Additional wheels could be fixed to the front axle for driving on sandy ground. The Wehrmacht was pleased for each captured exemplar of these reliable vehicles.

This GMC ACK-353 was converted to a kitchen lorry with an improvised box body. The lorry on the left is a Citroen 45 U.

Heavy damages caused by enemy fire showed this GMC ACK-353 which was photographed on the eastern front. Such damages were absolutely repairable but this was dependent on the availability of necessary spare parts. Often, this was a problem in the case of captured vehicles.
