Beginning in 1941, about 415 AEC 4x4 Armoured Command Vehicles were manufactured. They were based on the chassis of the AEC O 853 Matador.
At least three but most probably more of these vehicles were captured by units of the Afrika-Korps. The two vehicles illustrated above were used by units of the 21. Panzer Division.
