The Hannoversche Maschinenbau AG (Hanomag) was created in 1835. It manufactured lorries, locomotives, agricultural tractors, passenger cars and construction machines in the course of time. The passenger cars of the brand Hanomag are largely forgotten, nowadays. Most types were manufactured only in small series. On 1st December 1938, 44,391 Hanomag passenger cars were registered. Many of them might have been used by the Wehrmacht, later. Between 1928 and 1938, the Reichswehr and the Wehrmacht procured a number of Kübelwagen and commercial passenger cars. Besides the manufacturing of passenger cars, Hanomag was well-known for the manufacturing of tractors. For the Wehrmacht, mainly wheeled tractors were manufactured.
