Late in 1942, the conspicuous roof antennas were replaced by the Sternantenne D. Note the armoured mount of the Sternantenne D on the left side of the vehicle. The illustrated le. Panzerfunkwagen Sd. Kfz. 250/3 with Panzeraufbau Sd. Kfz. 250E belonged to Pz.A.A. 6 of 6. Panzer Division. Note the new divisional sign of this division on the bow armour plate which was used beginning in autumn 1943.

Beginning in July 1943, the le. Funkpanzerwagen was based on the Ausf. B of the le. SPW (Sd. Kfz. 250). The interior of the vehicle could be enlarged noticeably by the new arrangement of the armour plates. Beginning in 1944, the different versions were differentiated by roman numbers (I to IV).
