Altogether 569 exemplars of the BMW 327 resp. 327/28 were manufactured from 1938 to 1940. The BMW 327 was propelled by the 55 HP engine of the BMW 326 while the BMW 327/28 was propelled by the 80 HP engine of the BMW 328.
