The Akjas were developed based on the typically Scandinavian reindeer sledges. They saw first action in winter 1942/43. The leichte Akja – light Akja – was 213 cm long and 66 cm broad. It was mainly made of plywood and could be made by the units itself. (Image from D 72)

These leichte Akjas were used by a German infantry unit. Equipment of all kinds could be transported with these sledges. It could be towed with hand straps by two to three men. (Photo: German federal archive via Wikimedia Commons; License: Creative Commons BY-SA-3.0-gb)
