The Gebirgsprotze - mountain limber - 40 was used to move the partial loads of the 10.5 cm Gebirgshaubitze 40. Depending on the used towing vehicle and the terrain, the Unterlafette - lower gun carriage - with inserted Rohr - gun barrel - but without the Lafettenholme - outriggers - could be towed by using the Gebirgsprotze 40.
