The Feldhaubitz-Munitionswagen - field howitzer ammunition wagon - 98 was introduced in 1898 for the transportation of the ammunition of the 10.5 cm leichte Feldhaubitze 1898. The initial model had a Gepäckgitter - luggage grid - on the Wagenkasten - wagon box. Single Feldhaubitz-Munitionswagen 98 in this design were still in service in the 1930s. (Iamge from: Handbuch für Heerestaktik Teil 2)

Later, the ammunition of the 10.5 cm leichte Feldhaubitze 16 and 18 was also transported with the Feldhaubitz-Munitionswagen 98 (Af. 4). The designation Af. 4 was assigned in the late 1920s. The Af. 4 consisted of a Vorderwagen – anterior wagon –, which was identical to the Feldhaubitzprotze 98, and a Munitionshinterwagen 98 – ammunition rear wagon 98.
