In 1940, France ordered 800 exemplars of the 3 ton 6x4 lorry GMC AFWX 354 as transportation vehicles for anti-aircraft searchlights. These arrived in France only partially. The rest was used by the Brits for some time and was later delivered to the Soviet-Union.
