The new 1.5 ton lorry Ford G8T was manufactured starting in 1941. In 1942, the type 2G8T followed. The lorry could be delivered with a six-cylinder engine or an eight-cylinder V engine. More than 61,000 exemplars were delivered to the Soviet Union beginning in 1942. One of the German soldiers was armed with a likewise captured PPSh-41 submachine gun.

This Ford 2G8T was captured in the late summer of 1942. It was used by Panzerabteilung 103 of the 3. Infanterie Division (mot.) which was destroyed in Stalingrad some months later.
