The locomotive work in Kharkov was founded in 1895. At the beginning, mainly locomotives were made. The Kommunar tracked tractor was made beginning in 1923. It was based on the German WD-50 tracked tractor. The Komintern was manufactured from 1934 to 1940. 230 Exemplars of the modern Voroshilovez were made from 1939 to 1941 until the German occupation stopped production in Kharkov.
