The achievements of the Italian automobile industry are incontestable. Nevertheless, it still had problems to place suitable vehicles for the Italian armed forces. Among other reasons this may have been caused by the different operational areas of the Italian army. Before the surrender of the Italian armed forces only few Italian motor vehicles might have gotten over to German possession. After the revolution in Italy the Wehrmacht took over the main part of the Italian equipment. Production was partially continued by the Italian manufacturers under German direction.
