In 1939, the first modern armoured car was introduced in Italy. It was the SPA AB 40. It had 4x4 drive, four-wheel steering and drivers in the front and rear. The SPA AB 41 was introduced in 1941. The armament was strengthened with a 2 cm machine gun. This SPA AB 41 was most probably photographed during a combined Italian - German action in the Balkans.
