The Opel Kapitän was manufactured from 1938 to 1940 and some additional exemplars in 1943. Altogether 25,374 vehicles were made. The illustrated two door limousine belonged to a supply unit of 5. Gebirgs Division. The photo was taken at the Gulf of Finland on 15th May 1942.

A cabriolet with two doors and four seats was made by Opel. 248 chassis were delivered to car body manufacturers for special superstructures. The companies Gläser and Hebmüller made own cabriolets with two seats.
