The improved Krupp L 3 H 63 - which was propelled by the M 12 petrol engine with an output of 90 HP - was manufactured from 1931 to 1935. The ventilation of the engine was improved by two large ventilation dampers instead of the ventilation louvres of the predecessor model.

Interestingly, this Krupp L 3 H 63 had steel disc rims instead of the Simplex rims. These disc rims are listed in the spare parts list of the L 3 H 63 chassis besides the Simplex rims. It seems that this rim type was only rarely used on military vehicles. The improved L 3 H 63 had a standardised bumper.
