Out of the merger of the Munich companies Maffei and Krauss & Co. – which were two of the leading locomotive manufacturers in Germany - the company Krauss-Maffei arose in 1931. Production of armaments was already started in 1930. Kraus-Maffei developed the medium 8-ton half-track vehicle Sd. Kfz. 7. The heavy 12-ton half-track vehicle Sd. Kfz. 8 – which was developed by Daimler Benz – was manufactured under license. In addition, Maybach tank engines were made. Krauss-Maffei developed and manufactured the test Series of the Panzer I C and F.
