The mittlerer Schützenpanzerwagen (Granatwerfer) (Sd. Kfz. 251/2) was used for the transportation of an 8 cm Granatwerfer 34 (8 cm mortar 34) and its crew. Serial production of this variant started in 1941. The mortar could be fired from the vehicle or dismounted. The illustrated vehicle of a D model belonged to 12. SS Panzer Division Hitlerjugend.
