The Filmaufnahmekraftwagen - film recording motor vehicle - (Kfz. 12) is mentioned in several war strength inventories (K.St.N.) from 1942 and 1943. The illustrated m. gl. Pkw. is most probably such a Filmaufnahmekraftwagen (Kfz. 12). The vehicle corresponded widely to a standard m. gl. Pkw. (Kfz. 12), but had additional mountings for film recording devices.

Later, these vehicles were redesigned with a special equipment box at the rear for the transportation of cameras and other film equipment. Such vehicles were directly licensed by the ministry of information of the Reich and had a IA license number. One of these vehicles of a Propagandakompanie can be seen in this rare colour slide.
