Serial production of the leichte Schützenpanzerwagen (3.7 cm Pak) (Sd. Kfz. 250/10) started early in 1942. Light armoured vehicles and enemy positions could be fought with the 3.7 cm Pak. Contrary to the Sd. Kfz. 251/10, the Sd. Kfz. 250/10 was not a platoon leader’s vehicle. It was used as supporting vehicle for the platoon leader. The illustrated vehicles belonged to K.B. 6 of 6. Panzer Division. The photo was made in the Kalmyks-steppe in December 1942.

Despite the not driven front axle, cross-country mobility was acceptable. But especially during cross-country drive, the components of the front axle wore out very fast which lead to many failures. Partly, this was caused by the shortened track drive assembly which relocated the mass centre in an unfavourable way. Such failures were nearly unknown on the Sd. Kfz. 10. The Sd. Kfz. 250/10 Ausf. B was a rather rare vehicle because the last serial vehicles were delivered in September 1943. 216 rounds for the 3.7 cm Pak were carried in 14 woven baskets. The Sd. Kfz. 250/10 as supporting vehicle was replaced by the Sd. Kfz. 250/8.
