Production of the first Kübelwagen based on the Mercedes-Benz type 290 started in 1933. Production numbers were so low that these were not shown in the statistics, separately.
Typical for these early Mercedes-Benz type 290 Kübelwagen were the skirts on the front mudguards. These were omitted on the serial model Mercedes-Benz type 290 I which was manufactured starting in 1934.
