This Sd. Kfz. 231 was photographed after the campaign in the west in use by a training unit. It was based on the Mercedes-Benz G 3 a/P chassis. Among others, this is identifiable by the typically formed armour plates on the front wheels.

|
Beginning in 1934, 6-wheeled armoured cars were also made based on the Magirus M 206 a chassis. These are identifiable by the lengthened front mudguards.

|
|
|
|
The vehicles based on the Büssing-NAG G 31 P chassis are identifiable by the round armoured plates on the front wheels. This Sd. Kfz. 232 is a vehicle of the later Büssing-NAG series which can be identified by the closable armoured lamellas in front of the radiator.

Some of the typical features of the Magirus M 206 a chassis can be seen in this nice side view of an Sd. Kfz. 232. Besides the lengthened front mudguards, one can see the hexagonal armour plates of the wheels and the supporting wheels which were attached under the chassis frame.
