The DKW RT 125was presented in 1939 and was manufactured in series starting in 1940. The 123.2 ccm engine had an output of 4.75 HP. In 1940, only 1,702 machines were delivered to the Wehrmacht. In October 1941, the production was stopped in favour of the DKW NZ 350. However, further 7,000 machines were assembled from available parts for the civilian sector until December 1942. Based on the chassis number sequences, abou 21,000 machines were made. It is not clear if these numbers were reached. (Image from D 605/13)

In a modified version, adapted to the military use, the DKW RT 125 was furthermore manufactured from 1943 to 1945. Of this variant, further 12,000 machines were made. The often published type designation RT 125/1 is not proven. In the corresponding technical manual this machine is designated RT 125 n.A. (neue Ausführung - new model).
