The Steyr type 40 resp. type 40 L was based on the chassis of the Steyr type 30 passenger car. The type 40 had a payload of 1.5 ton and a wheelbase of 3.4 m while the type 40 L had a payload of 0.65 ton and a wheelbase of ca. 3.0 m. 432 exemplars were made from 1931 to 1932. Further 10 exemplars were made in 1933 as type 240. The illustrated vehicle is a Steyr type 40 L.
There were delivery vans, ambulances, omnibusses and other special vehicles based on the Steyr type 40, too. The illustrated vehicle is a Steyr type 40 ambulance.
