Contradictory information can be found on the leichter Truppenluftschutzpanzerwagen (Sd. Kfz. 250/4) – a small armoured anti aircraft vehicle. This variant is mentioned in the A.H.M. from November 1939 as well as the D 600 from July 1943. Other documents assign no purpose to this vehicle or it is totally missing. One document from November 1944 lists this variant as leichter Truppenluftschutzpanzerwagen (Sd. Kfz. 250/4) with the note that this variant is out of production. Most probably, several exemplars were sent to the east front for troop trials in 1942. Only 11. Panzer Division reports three exemplars in March 1943 and four exemplars in August 1943 of this variant. The vehicle was armed with two MG 34 in a Zwillingssockel 36 – a pedestal anti aircraft mount for two machine guns. Note that the Zwillingssockel 36 of the Sd. Kfz. 250/4 had an amour shield.
