Of the Ausführung H (9. Serie B.W.) of the Panzerkampfwagen IV, 2,322 vehicles were made from May 1943 to Februar 1944. Only the housing of the final drive was changed and the armour of the turret roof was strengthened. During the production period, the construction was more and more simplified. The Ausführung J (10. Serie B.W.) was the final model. From February 1944 to April 1945, altogether 3,150 vehicles were made. The DKW aggregate was omitted and therefore the small silencer on the rear plate left of the main silencer was omitted, too. Beginning in late August 1944, two vertical exhaust pipes with flame suppressors replaced the old system.
