There were two variants of the Flakmesstruppkraftwagen - anti aircraft survey motor vehicle - (Kfz. 74), abbreviated Flak Meßtr. Kw. (Kfz. 74),  which differed only by the carried equipment. An Em 4m R (H) rangefinder with 4 m base and further accessories of the Kommandogerät 36 - command device 36 - was transported with the Flakmesstruppkraftwagen I (Kfz. 74). The Kommandogerät 36 was transported on a two-axled trailer Sd. Ah. 104. In contrast, an Em 4m R (H) 34 resp. 36 was trasported with a Flakmesstruppkraftwagen II (Kfz. 74). The appropriate Kommandohilfsgerät 35 - command supporting device 35 - was transporte dwith a one-axle trailer Sd. Ah. 53. The Flakmesstruppkraftwagen (Kfz. 74) had a closed driver’s cab with a railing on the roof but an open platform. Such vehicles were exclusively used by Luftwaffe units.

The placement of the Em 4m R (H) is clearly visible on this Flakmesstruppkraftwagen I (Kfz. 74). The rangefinder was stored in the lower box which was mounted on a rail on the platform. The Berichtigungsgerät zum Em 4m R (H) - correction device for the rangefinder - was stored in the upper transportation box. For the most part, the Flakauswertekraftwagen - anti-aircraft evaluation motor vehicle - (Kfz. 74) was identically constructed. It was only procured in the early 1930s.
