With the introduction of the m. gl. Pkw., the Fu. Kw. (Kfz. 17) was divided into several subvariants. The base variant Fu. Kw. (Kfz. 17) had now a different radio set and an additional roof antenna. According to the installed radio set, the vehicle sometimes had an additional radio mast at the rear of the box body. Similar vehicles based on the l. gl. Lkw. (o) - light cross-country lorry (commercial) - like the Steyr 1500 A with unified box body carried the same designation Fu. Kw. (Kfz. 17) until the new simplified system was introduced in late 1943.
